Canes’ Countdown: Opening Week Promotions

It was a busy weekend for the hockey world. The lockout officially died a long, painful death. Teams scrambled to announce schedules, camp invitees, and various promotions. ‘Promotions’ may be loosely translated as, “Here’s a special deal for you. Please forgive the delay and buy tickets this week.”

The Hurricanes are no exception. They have some terrific promotions in store as we countdown to Opening Night on January 22^nd.

Today: Fans can enjoy 50% off all merchandise at The Eye team store through January 24th. Click here for store hours. Caniacs can also observe camp practice at PNC Arena starting at 11:00am. Camp roster can be found here.

Tuesday, January 15: Head over to Raleigh Center Ice to enjoy a team scrimmage at 11:00am.

Wednesday, January 16: Fans who subscribe to the Hurricanes Watch email newsletter will receive an exclusive online code for 50% off Opening Night tickets. The sale will end on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10 p.m.

Practice resumes at PNC at 11:00am.

Also, don’t forget about your Charlotte Checkers! They face Grand Rapids in a back-to-back series at Time Warner Cable Arena. Wednesday is Wet Your Whistle promotion night with discounted Bud Lights.

Thursday, January 17: Practice is same time, same place.

Checkers battle Grand Rapids once again, and they are treating fans to more goodies. College students may get the best available seats for just $15. Not a college student? No problem, show your Harris Teeter VIC Card at the box office for $5 off any seat. Finally, Bud Lights will only cost you a buck Thursday night.

SEASON OPENER! Saturday, January 19: Your Carolina Hurricanes open the season in Florida against last year’s Southeast Division Champions. The Panthers have retained their top three leading scorers, Tomas Fleischmann, Stephen Weiss, and Kris Versteeg. Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen are the usual crease keepers. Sunday, January 20: Head over to Charlotte and claim a free Justin Faulk and Justin Peters wall cling! You can also support the Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital by donating a new, current movie or Xbox 360 video game appropriate for children.

HOME OPENER! Tuesday, January 22: It’s the day we have waited an eternity to arrive. Well, four months sure felt like an eternity. Canes will battle the Tampa Bay Lightning and fans will be bombarded with giveaways. That only seems fair. Here’s the breakdown:

• You will be greeted with a Carolina Hurricanes 2’x3’ house flag
• At every whistle stop, Stormy and the crew will be giving away more than $50,000 in gifts, including suites, Lenovo Champions Club tickets, front row seats, unique game experiences, replica jerseys, autographed items and more
• Hot dogs, popcorn, and sodas from PNC Arena concessions will be just $1. Wow!
• Cory Stillman will be signing autographs on the concourse prior to the game
