A nagging foot injury has finally sidelined Ray Whitney for the next 4-6 weeks, according to the Stars’ press release.
Having suffered the injury in just the second game of the season against the Minnesota Wild, the 40-year-old managed to favor the injured foot by wearing the boot. That was until Friday’s game against his former team, the Phoenix Coyotes.
Its unclear whether Whitney further aggravated his foot it in the 4-3 shootout victory over Phoenix Friday night. A game that the veteran forward recorded two assists in. Whatever the case may be, Ray’s absence will certainly be felt as he leads the Dallas Stars in scoring this season; six points in eight games.
Now having to jumble the lines, the Stars will likely see the move of Brendan Morrow to the top-six, with recently recalled Texas Stars’ Reilly Smith taking the bottom slots. Smith, who has played 38 games this season with the AHL team, has 11 goals and 27 points.
